The building was designed by Ernesto Korrodi and built in 1929 and served as a municipal market where the Fonte Luminosa existed, the building of the former Banco Nacional Ultramarino, Convento de Santana, which ended up being demolished in 1916 and now only portals remain that were moved and incorporated into the Leiria castle's Guard House.
